A Place to Meet!

After many months of not having a place of our own, and after a few months of work, River City Church finally has a place to call our own. It’s been quite a ride to get here and we’ve learned a few thiIMG_4085ngs along the way:

  1. Things always take longer than what you expect. From finding a location to getting a lease to getting the work done, everything took a lot longer than what I had hoped for.
  2. God’s timing is always perfect. If I had it my way, I would have had a place two years ago. God’s plans are always better than ours.
  3. Notice the title: “A place to meet” and not “a new church.” River City was a church before it had a permanent meeting location. A physical church building shouldn’t be confused with a Biblical church.
  4. That being said (#3 above), a building is a very useful ministry tool. It’s only been a couple of weeks, but we already see how things go much more smoothly when you don’t have to pack everything into storage tubs.

It’s been a lot of work, but River City Church is not “complete” now that we have a place to meet. This is just the beginning. We will continue to be and make disciples of Jesus Christ who will mature and multiply through gospel-focused worship, gospel-formed community, and gospel-fueled service. That’s the mission that God has called us to.

As we continue on this journey we invite you to celebrate with us, and pray for God to do immeasurable more than all we ask or imagine for His glory in our city.

Before your new location in Swissvale where did you meet for service? I recall there being a church plant in Edgewood near the library, but I am not sure if that was your church or another.

    • We have rented space at the Wilkins School Community Center and the Swissvale Presbyterian Church. We are excited about our new beginning in the heart of Swissvale.
