We’ve begun a new sermon series covering the three pillars of River City Church. Our mission is to glorify God by fulfilling the Great Commission to make, mature, and multiply disciples of Jesus Christ as a gospel-centered church. This is accomplished through the three pillars of gospel-focused worship, gospel-formed community, and gospel-fueled service.
On Sunday, Pastor Eric preached a message on what it looks like to be “Gospel-Focused” in worship. First of all, we worship because of the gospel. Our relationship with God is restored and we are free to worship Him as forgiven sinners. Secondly, our worship services are focused on the gospel. This means that the reason why we worship isn’t to be entertained but to be reminded on what the Lord has done for us. And thirdly, our worship services contain six elements of Biblical commands for worship gatherings:
- Reading God’s Word
- Preaching of the Word
- Collecting offerings
- Worship songs
- Corporate prayers
- Practicing regularly the ordinances of the Lord’s Supper and Communion
Join us on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM for the second pillar of a gospel-centered church: Gospel-Formed Community.
