Men Wanted for Hazardous Journey

Ernest Shackleton was a British explorer who led expeditions to the South Pole during the early 1900’s. The story goes that he placed an ad in the London Times in 1912 that simply read: “Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of cShackadvert2omplete darkness. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in event of success.” The response was so great that Shackleton was able to fill his 27-man crew and even had to turn people away.

Some people think the call to follow Christ is one of comfort and convenience. Far too many Christians think that our goal is being nice and far too many pastors have given up being “fishers of men” to become “keepers of the aquarium.”

We believe Jesus’ words in Mark 8:34, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

The call for a Christian is to come and die.

The journey is dangerous.

The darkness is real.

But our success is guaranteed because His return is certain.

River City Church is looking for men and women with a pioneering spirit who will join our team for the honor and recognition of Jesus Christ.

Will you join us?
